    WFDEIP Westmorland and Furness Diversity Equity and Inclusion Partnership 7am and 7pm Daily at Home Sessions

    Westmorland and Furness Diversity Equity and Inclusion Partnership (WFDEIP) will hold 2 sessions at home every day of Inter Faith Week in support of Inter Faith Week. These will be at 7am and 7pm for half an hour. Please feel welcome to read The Golden Rule and to undertake an appropriate practice from any faith or none (eg chanting, meditation, reading, reciting).

    Westmorland and Furness Diversity Equity and Inclusion Partnership (WFDEIP) is the local Equality and Diversity Partnership. WFDEIP developed from South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership (SLEDP) when the county boundaries changed in 2023. SLEDP has held events in Inter Faith Week since 2012.

    Zero Waste Community Leadership Training
    The course is designed to empower aspiring community leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to galvanise their communities to reduce waste.
    The course has two parts:
    1) A webinar about waste reduction in Barnet
    2) An in-person training about community outreach

    The webinar is free to attend, and anyone can join us. It teaches why we must reduce our waste and hyper consumption, and how to do so in Barnet. Register on Eventbrite

    Participate at Home in Session of Meditation or Prayer and Study run by a 95 year old Retired Roman Catholic Priest (possibly the oldest person to lead a session in Inter Faith Week)

    A 95 year old retired Roman Catholic Priest will be leading a session on Monday 11 November from 2.00 – 3.00pm. The session will include meditation or prayer and study. All welcome to participate at home knowing others will be participating in their homes at the same time. This is not an online meeting.

    Book launch: The Illustrated Cairo Genizah

    Join authors Nick Posegay and Melonie Schmierer-Lee for a visual journey through over 125 years’ Cambridge Genizah research, complete with surprising tales of coexistence and interaction. Almost 1000 years ago, the Jews of Old Cairo began to place their worn-out books and scrolls into a hidden storage room - a genizah - of their synagogue. Over the years, they added all sorts of writings to the pile, sacred and secular texts alike. When the chamber was emptied at the end of the 19th century, it held hundreds of thousands of paper and parchment fragments. Now known as the “Cairo Genizah” , it has become one of the most important sources of knowledge for the history of the Middle East and the Mediterranean world. This book offers the first illustrated introduction to the unique collection of Cairo Genizah manuscripts at Cambridge University Library. …

    As part of 2024 Inter Faith Week activities, we want to share the way we incorporate SDGs into our programmes with the UK interfaith community, and open up discussion of how our CIO foundational model can partner interfaith organisations to maximise our impact in our society for a just and sustainable society for all.…

    Faith at Work

    The Ella Baker School of Organising’s Faith & Belief Working Group are organising their first event for Interfaith Week. It will focus discussion on how it feels to be stereotyped, and how people of faith, when accommodated at work, can not only create a harmonious environment but can also thrive. This environment will naturally lead to better productivity.

    The event will launch the Faith at Work Charter and share good practice, stories and resources, which businesses and companies can implement to help build a faith-friendly workplace.…
