Libraries
Libraries are unique institutions with a special place at the heart of their local communities. The Week is a tremendous opportunity to strengthen links with your diverse local community; educate and inform; and to highlight aspects of your collection.
At this time of COVID-19 and social distancing, the Week will have a strong virtual component. Libraries are particularly well placed to take advantage of this. Just a few ideas that you may be interested to consider:
- An online talk or display about books on religion and belief in your collection
- A video of some local faith community members talking about why libraries are so important to local communities and what their faith has to say about the importance of learning
- A curated reading list linked to the Week – perhaps utilising ebooks where necessary
- A video about how you serve local communities in our religiously diverse society
- An online story telling session for children with readers from different faiths and beliefs
- A specially curated mini exhibition about different faiths and beliefs – perhaps in association with your local inter faith group (you can find groups listed at https://www.interfaith.org.uk/involved/groups) with an online version of this
- A live streamed or recorded multi faith music session (without singing) in one of the spaces of your library
