Reaching Across Divides: Sustaining solidarity across social difference
Tuesday 10 November 12.15 – 13.45
Room 3, Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge [Sidgewick Site, West Road, Cambridge, CB3 9DP]
At this event, speaker Dr Elizabeth Phillips, Director of Education and Engagement, Woolf Institute explores the following questions in her talk:
How do we build lasting coalitions across religious divides? How can those with social
privilege contribute to change without reproducing unequal relationships of power? This
discussion will explore how people within interfaith spaces can engage across social
difference within sensitive discussions, while remaining attentive to the ways privilege
shapes solidarity. It asks what distinguishes responsibility from charity, and collaboration
from saving, to consider how more durable relationships can be built in polarised times.
