Drop Down Day to Celebrate the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1st Sikh Guru)

On Friday the 14th of November the whole school will be off timetable and will be engaged in assemblies, workshops and interactive sessions to learn and have opportunities to demonstrate some of the key teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji which include: sewa (selfless service), community, kindness, remembering God and working hard. We will have external speakers from across the local area but also Scotland and the Midlands to come down and share their own experiences around these teachings. We have people from different careers such as police officers and Lawyers who also come and speak to the students about how these values and teachings can be incorporated in to their line of work. As part of this day we will also be showing the IFW presentations and asking students to write poems on the theme of community and service.

| Important information | This is a school event only and not open to the public unless they have been specifically invited by the school. On this day all students (of every faith) will visit the Darbar Sahib and recieve Parshad and all students and staff (irrepesctive of faith) recieve a free lunch, demonstrating the values of langar (community free food). Other organisations involved are Sahara (women's well being), the MET police, Sikhs in Law, Grant Thornton, Little History of the Sikhs. |
