    South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership (SLEDP) will support the holding of 2 sessions at home every day of Inter Faith Week in support of Inter Faith Week. These will be at 7am and 7pm for half an hour. Please feel welcome to read The Golden Rule and to undertake an appropriate practice from any faith or none (eg chanting, meditation, reading, reciting).

    Interfaith Week at the Meeting House

    The Meeting House will mark the Interfaith Week by promoting library where the students and staff may find useful resources on various religious traditions.

    Footprints for the Future

    St Julian's Park, Omagh, Co Tyrone, BT79. 11.00 – 12.00
    Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will host a ceremony to celebrate the diversity of cultures and faiths that exist in the area by planting trees and burying a time capsule for future generations to enjoy and learn from. The trees will be planted in a diversity garden by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council staff, members of Fermanagh and Omagh Interfaith group and local volunteers. Following the tree planting a time capsule, which contains artefacts from a variety of faiths and cultures in the district will be buried to be opened in 100 years time.

    AWAZ Cumbria and the South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership (SLEDP) present talks on interfaith.

    Dave Bullard has been a Quaker all his life, with a long career in education. Since retirement he has taken a great interest in the Buddhist Faith, particularly following the Vietnamese Buddhist, Thich Nhat Hanh. His talk is about the Quaker Peace Testimony which originated in South Lakeland.

    Imam Abdur Rashid was born in Carlisle, Cumbria. He is the Imam, leader of the Muslims who congregate, attend or are connected to Carlisle Islamic Centre. He has been active in interfaith dialogue and events as the Imam there and intends to continue to build bridges with all communities on humanitarian grounds of peace, collaboration and education.

    His Blood Be Upon Us: Revd Dr Tom Wilson’s Book Launch

    The book explores the antisemitic potential of Matthew’s Gospel in the Christian New Testament. It begins with a detailed discussion of the occasion of the text, before discussing key questions (Matthew’s fulfilment theology, and the use of polemic in the text). Three crucial texts are examined in detail. The book discusses the reverberations of the “blood cry,” arguing the deicide-focused interpretation of Matthew 27:25 is foundational to subsequent blood libels, which are also discussed. The final chapters explore how to preach from Matthew’s Gospel with Jewish people in mind, including offering sample sermons to stimulate the reader’s thinking about how they might teach from a controversial Matthean text in a way that denies the possibility of perpetuating Christian antisemitism.…

    An Inter Faith Week Memorandum of Understanding signing

    RAF Museum and Telford & Wrekin Interfaith Council marked Inter Faith Week by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. By working together in a spirit of friendship for a just and inclusive community, the RAF Museum and Telford & Wrekin Interfaith Council share a commitment and responsibility to engage with a broader range of people, across all communities. The MOU was signed by RAF Museum CEO Maggie Appleton and Cllr Raj Mehta, Chair of Telford & Wrekin Interfaith Council. Also in attendance on the day were Trustees and colleagues from both organisations who champion equity, diversity, and inclusion.
