Science and Religion: Moving away from the shallow end

    Newton Building - NEWLT4, City Campus, 50 Shakespeare Street, NG1 4FQ. 17.00 – 19.00
Join us for this special Science and Religion event to discuss the very latest research study in this area in the UK during Interfaith Week 2022.Our keynote speaker Nick Spencer has led on this ground–breaking report Science and Religion: Moving away from the shallow end which draws on a three–year project in which the researchers conducted over a hundred in–depth interviews with leading academics and science communicators and commissioned a YouGov public opinion poll of over 5,000 UK adults.
For years the conversation on this topic has fixed on a limited number of (scientific) topics – evolution, Big Bang, neuroscience – and often on the loudest voices there. In short, the ‘science and religion’ conversation is needlessly shallow and needlessly noisy. This event will draw on the latest research, stimulate conversation and bring out the more nuanced and complex relationship between science and religion.
