Learning About a Sikh Family

Monday 15 November 0.00 – 0.00

St Aidan's Church of England Primary School, Derwentwater Road, Gateshead, NE8 2HQ

Pupils at the nursery watched a video about a Sikh family and learnt how they practice and celebrate their religion. They celebrated a ‘Diwali’ party where they cooked lots of special food and handed out welcome sweets. They prayed to a Diwali God and talked about all of the colourful lights used at Diwali time. They showed us what a ‘Diva Lamp’ is and explained why it is special to them. There were beautiful pieces of artwork made from different colours, patterns, rice and glitter. The patterns are called ‘Rangoli Art’.
