Islam is Not a Religion of Violence: Combatting the Misconceptions About Muslims
Tuesday 10 November
Bristol University (online)
"Islam promotes violence."
"Islam is incompatible with the West."
"Muslims are oppressed."
"Muslims promote an agenda of abuse and sexism."
Time and time again, we hear the same misconceptions and false ideas about Islam and what it is to be a Muslim being promoted, from right-wing groups to the mainstream media.
Using both textual evidence and personal experience, our panel will be combatting this misinformation, as well as exploring the reasons behind it.
We invite everyone to come and ask any questions, no matter what misconception you may have heard.
With Mustafa Briggs and Sheikh Rizwan from Isyllabus.
