Inter Faith Week and Schools

Inter Faith Week 2012 takes place from 18 - 27 November in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

“Without doubt the constructive working and mutual understanding between faiths in this country is one of our greatest strengths. Educating children about different faiths is of immense importance in leading children to understand the history that has helped shape the values and traditions of this country, and of other countries and cultures. The extended Inter Faith Week that will take place in November this year gives even more opportunity for schools and young people to participate, and I hope they will take advantage of this to build new partnerships and celebrate the diversity that exists across the UK.”

- Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Michael Gove MP

This page features some downloadable resources for schools and SACREs to aid in your marking of the Week.

Some of these resources were specially created for Inter Faith Week in 2009 by the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE) and the National Association for Standing Advisory Councils for Religious Education (NASACRE), with support from the then Department for Children, Schools and Families.

Further support may also be available locally through your RE Adviser, Lead/AST RE teachers or local SACRE. The resources below can be used to organise activities during Inter Faith Week itself, or throughout the year to support your schools' work to promote good inter faith relations within your community.
