Increase text size buttons

At the top-right of every page, in the logo 'band', you will see buttons that look like this: A+ A- reset. These enable you to adjust the text-size of almost all text on the page. Click on A+ to increase the size of text; A- to decrease the size of text; and on reset to return the text sizes to how they were when you arrived at the website.

Note: These buttons use Javascript and work on a page-by-page basis. If you move from one page of this website to another, the text size will return to the default setting, and you will need to adjust the size again using these buttons. If you do not have Javascript enabled, they will not work, and you may wish to use your browser's 'zoom' function instead.

If you need to change the size of all elements on the page, including pictures, you may prefer to use your web browser's built-in 'zoom' function. Click here to find out more.

Using touchscreen devices

A number of features on this website work via a pointer device (eg a mouse cursor) 'hovering' over an area of the screen. Limited touchscreen functionality has also been included as follows:

Horizontal menu and drop-down sub-menus (purple bar)

To access sub-menu items from the horizontal (purple) menu at the top of each page, on a device with a traditional pointer (such as a mouse cursor), the user hovers over the menu item, and a sub-menu appears to drop-down below it. Any additional sub-sub-menu items also display if the user hovers over an item.

On a touchscreen device, touching the word in the menu will activate the drop-down sub-menu, where there is one. The 'home' menu item will take you to the website home page. The 'Contact us' menu item will take you to the 'Contact us' page.

Tooltips/ 'hints'

Tooltips/ 'hints' are mainly used on the 'submit an event' page of this website, where users can hover over the (?) icons to get further information about form fields. On a touchscreen device, these work by touching the icon once to display the additional information, and touching anywhere else on the page which is not a hyperlink to close the information box. If you touch another (?) icon, the previous one will close, and the new one will be displayed.

Increasing Text Size

Some users might find screen text easier to read by increasing the size at which text is displayed. To do this you should adjust your browser's settings:

Browser Menu Shortcut Keys

In most modern web browsers, for PC users, pressing the 'CTRL' and '+' buttons on your keyboard simultaneously will zoom in, and pressing 'CTRL' and '-' simultaneously will zoom out. You can repeat this procedure to zoom in or out further. Instructions for particular browsers are below. If you would prefer a pictoral guide to these options, you can find one at the W3 Consortium website - Click here.

Internet Explorer 5+
View > Text Size > Larger ALT V + L

Internet Explorer 7
View > Text Size > Larger CTRL +

Firefox, Mozilla, Google Chrome
View > Text Size > Increase CTRL +

Opera
View > Zoom CTRL + %
